A creative workshop exploring your personal connections with books.
Bring along a book that means something special to you to. You will then take part in a creative writing workshop and find out more about our collections. There will be fun and creative exercises to get you writing about the book and what it means to you.
We have millions of books and publications in our collections - from comics to cookbooks, as well as unique manuscripts and first editions. What are the books you return to again and again? Which one has had an impact on your life or work? Whether it's a cherished children’s book or annual, a novel you could not put down, or a how-to book that's always to hand, a copy of that book will likely sit somewhere on the Library's shelves.
The workshop will generate short pieces of writing which will help to shape an exhibition for our Centenary in 2025 celebrating books and libraries, and may even feature in the display.
This session will be led by writer Beth Cochrane. It is suitable for everyone aged 16 years and over. No experience of creative writing is necessary.
