Zambesi Falls at sunrise, by Thomas Baines.
The published version of this watercolour by Thomas Baines is captioned:
'The falls by sunrise, with the "spray cloud" rising 1,2000 feet.'
Baines would work up paintings from earlier sketches done on the spot. In this view, we see the Livingstone expedition party, with Baines himself sketching and others — possibly John Kirk and Charles Livingstone — photographing the scene.

Images of Victoria Falls featured in the 'Picturing Africa' exhibition, which ran from 14 June to 3 November 2013.
