Engraving of Zambesi Falls from David Livingstone's 'Missionary travels and researches in South Africa' (1857).
One of the biggest challenges to the 19th century artist and engraver was to represent the great natural wonder of Victoria Falls, originally called the Zambesi Falls.
Livingstone wrote in his 'Missionary travels':
'… no one can imagine the beauty of the view from any thing witnessed in England. It had never been seen before by European eyes; but scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight.'
