Anyone can join the National Library of Scotland
To access our reading rooms in Edinburgh, you need to visit in person and obtain a library card (which requires ID). To do this, you can pre-register online before coming in or simply join in-person at our reader registration desks at either George IV Bridge or our Maps Reading Room.
You do not need a card to visit us at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.
You can join the Library online only (which doesn't require ID). This gives you remote access to the Library's eResources, as long as you have a residential address in Scotland.
