James Gillespie's school junior girls' class 1930, with teacher Miss Kay.
In this school class photo from the 1930s, Muriel Camberg (Spark) is 2nd from the right in the middle row.
Spark later wrote: 'Miss Kay predicted my future as a writer in the most emphatic terms. I felt I hardly had much choice in the matter.'
Christina Kay would also provide Spark with the inspiration for her most famous character — charismatic schoolteacher Miss Jean Brodie.
