An undated letter from Jessie Kesson's literary archive.
Extract from an undated letter from Kesson, which begins 'Dear Bella,':
'One of the – to me – most moving aspects Sir Maitland MacKie – Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire was there – 'Officially' – Took me in his arms & hugged me.
'Moving because he was our first farmer in our cottar life. […] Chatting together we both came to the conclusion that what had happened to us both separately and conjointly, must be unique in the annals of rural Scotland – A farmer who became an Knight and Lord Lieutenant of his county – and His cottar – who became LLD.D.Litt.'
This letter was on display in 'Jessie Kesson: "The sma perfect"', at the Library from 22 September until 25 November 2016.
