From 'Poems of Ossian' (Perth: R Morison & Son, 1795). [Library shelfmark: Oss.34]
Perth publisher Morison's 1795 edition of 'Poems of Ossian, son of Fingal', by James Macpherson, included 'a set of elegant engravings'.
The illustrations created by David Allan and Thomas Stothard were more ambitious than those of the London editions of the poems.
This engraving illustrates Fingal's words from the poem 'Carric-Thura':
'And shall the sons of the Wind frighten the King of Morven? No, he knows the weakness of their arms.'
