The so-called 'Small edition' with 50 fairy tales selected by Wilhelm Grimm first appeared in 1825.
It was the first German edition to include illustrations, and it signalled the beginning of the publication success of the fairy tales in Germany.
This book featured in the 'Illustrating the Grimms' display at the National Library of Scotland, which ran from 19 September to 18 November 2012.
