From 5pm on Friday 4 April, you won’t be able to access some of our online services. Our library buildings in Edinburgh and Glasgow will also close for essential maintenance. We expect to resume online services on Monday 7 April and reopen our buildings on Tuesday 8 April.
If there are any delays, this will be shared on our social channels and media centre.
While we’re closed, you’ll still be able to contact us.
Using our online services?
To avoid any inconvenience or disruption between 5pm on Friday 4 April and the morning of Monday 7 April, we encourage you to plan ahead.
Check what will and won’t be available during this time, and make sure you’ve accessed what you need before then.
You won’t be able to:
- Join the Library or log in to your account
- Log in or reserve books, manuscripts, maps, and other items using the catalogues
- Use eResources
- Access the:
- Full Maps website (a temporary service will be in place)
- Moving Image Archive
- Digital gallery
- Order photocopies and scans
You will be able to:
- Search the main catalogue, and manuscripts and archives catalogue (but you won’t be able to reserve any items)
- Access a limited Maps website providing access to georeferenced map layers
- Browse and book events
- Plan future visits to our buildings
- Explore how to start researching family history
- Learn more about our collections
- Read articles on Papercut
- Find out about who we are and what we do
- Visit our online shop
Visiting in person?
Our buildings in Edinburgh and Glasgow will be closed between 5pm on Friday 4 April and 10am on Tuesday 8 April. During this time, you won’t be able to visit us in person.
