The National Library of Scotland's newspapers collection is one of the largest in the UK. It is also the largest in Scotland.
Items range from the earliest newspaper printed in Scotland to online titles running to thousands of pages.
National and regional titles
Thanks to the legal deposit privilege, we can request a copy of every newspaper published in Scotland. We also receive a copy of the main national titles published in the UK.
The collections include a representative sample of the UK regional press and a selection of overseas newspapers.
We hold some newspapers on microfilm to help reduce the handling of rare and fragile material.
You can find details of our newspapers holdings by using our main catalogue.
