Mapping Enlightenment Edinburgh
In this recorded event, Maps Curator Chris Fleet looks at important maps showing the development of Edinburgh between 1750 and 1850. During this time, maps underwent a major transformation in form and content reflecting the new values inherent in the creation of Edinburgh's New Town.
Chris considers who made the maps, why, and for whom. He also discusses how far we should trust these maps as a true reflection of the reality down on the ground.
